Frequently Asked Questions
Is my son/daughter too young to start lessons?
Any musical instrument can be challenging to learn, even more so for little fingers! As our lessons are one on one, we have found that children under the age of 5 have struggled with the intensity of a private lesson. For these reasons we recommend a minimum age of 5 years old.
Am I too old to start to learn?
There is no upper age limit for learning! It's never too late. We get this question a lot, but actually it is very common for older beginners to pick up a new instrument, and we have had new beginners who were in their 90's. So to answer the question- ages five - unlimited are welcome!
How much do lessons cost?
Please see our Lesson fee and structure page.
Do I need to pay in advance?
Yes. As lessons are booked on a term basis, we will be making a commitment to reserve your chosen time for the duration of the term. As such, the student is also required to make the commitment of a term booking in advance.
What if I miss a lesson?
Make up lessons can be scheduled where 24 hours notice is given. Please see lesson fee and structure page for more info.
Do I need my own instrument?
Pianos and keyboards are provided for in class learning, and we do have spare guitars at the school to use initially; but it is vitally important for the student to practise at home. As such, an instrument should be purchased as soon as possible to ensure the student is able to practise and progress.
Should I start with an acoustic or an electric Guitar?
Although many people are under the impression that a student needs to start with an acoustic guitar, this is not the case. Either acoustic or electric will have benefits, and it comes down to what the student is wanting to learn, as well as the cost of the instrument. For more information, please get in touch.
Which styles of music do you teach?
We teach most styles of music. Classical, pop, rock, folk etc. Please give us a call or send as a message if you were looking for something specific.
I'm not sure if I will like it, can I try a lesson first?
Whilst we do not offer a free trial lesson, you are welcome to book one lesson without booking a term and then afterward decide if you'd like to continue with the term. The cost will be the standard price for a single class($36). Please get in touch to make a booking!
